2021-22 School Year: What were the backgrounds of Quitman School District students?

Black students made up 57.3% of the 1,595 students enrolled in Quitman School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 1.2% decrease from the previous school year.

Quitman High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 468 students.

A snapshot of Quitman School District schools showed 57.3% of students were Black and 40.7% white.

Quitman School District roughly covers four schools within Clarke County and has a main office in Quitman.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
