2019-2020: What were the backgrounds of Neshoba County students?

Of the 4,180 students enrolled in Neshoba County schools in 2019-2020, 52.5% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Neshoba County students.

This is a 0.5% decrease from the previous school year.

Neshoba Central Elementary School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Neshoba County schools showed 52.5% students were White, 31.3% were Black or African American, 5.8% were Two or More Races, 0.3% were Asian and 0.3% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are five schools in Neshoba County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
