Black or African American had the largest percent of student body in Jasper County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 2,242 students enrolled in Jasper County schools in 2019-2020, 71.6% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Jasper County students.

This is a 1.5% decrease from the previous school year.

William J. Berry Elementary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Jasper County schools showed 71.6% students were Black or African American, 25.3% were White and 0.8% were Two or More Races.

There are seven schools in Jasper County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
