5.3% of Newton County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Newton County recorded an unemployment rate of 5.3% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 472 people out of the 21,385 living in Newton County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Newton County has increased compared to the 3.8% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Newton County was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.8%.

Of the 8,438 people who had a job during that time, 125 were employed in the Armed Forces and 8,313 belonged to the civilian labor force.
