What background was most represented in Winston County schools in 2019-2020 school year?

Of the 2,728 students enrolled in Winston County schools in 2019-2020, 63.7% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Winston County students.

This is a 0.6% decrease from the previous school year.

Louisville High School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Winston County schools showed 63.7% students were Black or African American, 31.5% were White and 2.5% were Two or More Races.

There are six schools in Winston County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
