Protect your home from dangerously cold weather with these budget-friendly tips.
Keep your home at a minimum of 55°.
Caulk and weather strip doors and windows.
Remove the garden hose and wrap exposed faucets.
Never leave a candle burning unattended.
Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to circulate warm air around the plumbing, especially if your sinks are on an exterior wall.
Let cold water drip from faucets to prevent pipes from freezing.
Install a smoke alarm and be sure the batteries are working.
Have your chimney inspected.
