It’s swine time! Market Hog nominations are due December 1 in the 4-H office.
Did you know that swine are highly intelligent and are ranked 4th on the scale behind humans and dolphins.
They also have a greater sense of smell than a dog!
Research has shown that hogs can detect scents up to 7 miles away and up to 25 feet underground!
Pigs were used for centuries to find truffles - the highly valuable edible fungus that grows underground and used in fine cuisine and desserts.
