We get a lot of calls regarding “lady bugs” invading homes this time of year.
It’s a case of mistaken identity!!
The Asian Lady beetle was brought here to the US to control aphids.
BIG MISTAKE! The native “lady bug” is actually a cousin and is in fact being destroyed by the non native Asian Lady beetle.
The Asian version is larger and more aggressive than the native cousin.
You can identify the invader by the “m” shaped spot behind their head.
They also exude a foul smelling liquid when they feel threatened.
