Black had the largest percent of student body in West Jasper Consolidated Schools schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 54.2% of the 1,319 students enrolled in West Jasper Consolidated Schools schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is an 11.7% decrease from the previous school year.

Bay Springs Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 393 students.

A snapshot of West Jasper Consolidated Schools schools showed 54.2% of students were Black and 3.9% white.

West Jasper Consolidated Schools roughly covers three schools within Jasper County and has a main office in Bay Springs.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
