Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black was most represented background in Philadelphia Public School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 84.1% of the 826 students enrolled in Philadelphia Public School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a one% decrease from the previous school year.

Philadelphia Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 448 students.

A snapshot of Philadelphia Public School District schools showed 84.1% of students were Black and 11.4% white.

Philadelphia Public School District roughly covers two schools within Neshoba County and has a main office in Philadelphia.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
