Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black was most represented background in Kemper County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 44.8% of the 915 students enrolled in Kemper County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 52% decrease from the previous school year.

Kemper County Lower Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 255 students.

A snapshot of Kemper County School District schools showed 44.8% of students were Black and 1.4% white.

Kemper County School District roughly covers two schools within Kemper County and has a main office in Scooba.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
